About the project
Table Tennis Player Barak Mizrachi will be making his Paralympic debut in Rio after winning the Gold Medal at the Oceania Regional Para Table Tennis Championships in April 2015. Barak has been a national para squad member since May 2011 and has representing Australia at international para tournaments in China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, England, Czech Republic, Slovenia and Slovakia.
Barak was hoping to represent Australia at the 2012 London Paralympics, however, he just fell short of the world ranking cut off and missed the wildcard selection.
Rio is now his ultimate goal.
In prepration for Rio, Barak represented Australia at the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia. Barak has also represented Australia at the Maccabiah Games in 2005, 2009 and 2013.
Barak works full-time and undertakes training in Coburg, Croydon and Glen Waverley with Sydney Olympian coach, Mark Smythe.
Barak self-funds his trainings and majority of his international tournaments. Due to Barak’s extensive travel commitments for table tennis, part of his time away from work is without pay. Money raised on this platform will assist with table tennis and living expenses as he builds towards success in Rio.
