My name is Daniel Links and I am 13 years of age. I have been sailing an Optimist for the last 4 years which is the largest junior sailing class in the world. Over the last couple of years I have trained very hard giving me increased capability, experience and also some strong sailing results.
I recently came 2nd in the Australian championships out of 250 boats missing out by 1 point on victory. I also placed 2nd in the NZ nationals and won the NSW states, VIC states and Sail Sydney International regatta.
As a result of my strong Australian championship result, I have been selected as 1 of 5 to represent Australia at the World Championships in Cyprus in August 2018. In preparation for the Worlds I plan to attend the Junior Gold Cup in Bermuda in May (as Australia's only selected representative) and also the US Nationals in July.
The training, travel and equipment will cost over $30,000 for the 2018 year. My parents have tried to cover this cost over the years as they love the fact I am so passionate about the sport. Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club has also provided great support and facilities to train at.
I am hoping to raise $5,000 to help contribute to my sailing campaign.
If 100 people can make $50 tax-deductible donations you will help me have the best preparation to successfully compete at the World Championships.
Thank you for your help
