About the project

I started sailing at Sandy Bay Sailing Club, Hobart in 2013 completing Takers program. From here I completed the Tackers 2 program. I started to sail with another boy in a cadet but that wasn't me, I like to be in charge. So I borrowed an Optimist and began to race. Tears when it was cold and windy but week after week I came back. I got my first boat (an old boat as mum wasn't sure if this sailing thing was going to take off). After a successful season I knew sailing was for me. I have taken all opportunities at club level. Mum decided that we might give this Nationals thing a go, so we went to Sail Melbourne as a practice and onto Brisbane in the summer of 2018 for the National Championships. I was stoked in my first Nationals to make the gold fleet (top half) and be selected in the Australian Optimist Development Squad. The best U12's. Mum and I traveled to New Caledonia to sail the New Caledonia Nationals where I finished 6th out of 35 and the second Australian. I also won the State Open Titles in 2018. This years Nationals I wanted to finish in the top 15 and after the 10 days I finished 17th out of 165 boats and was selected to be in a Australian Optimist Senior Team to compete at the Asian and Oceanic Championships in Oman in September.
