Jade Haines is a rising star in junior track cycling, having achieved the second fastest Australian time for the Australian Under 17 Individual Pursuit (IP) event in 2015. Jade then won gold in the Madison event (a two rider event) and silver in the IP at the 2016 Junior Track World Championships. At the Oceania Championships in December 2016, Jade added golds medals for the omnium and scratch race events and took home a total of five medals.
Jade will captain the Australian team when she represents Australia in her second Junior track cycling World Championships, to be held in Montichiari, Italy this year.
Jade’s goals for the 2017 Junior World Championships and beyond are to continue to improve her PB’s and win the coveted rainbow jersey for the IP event. This will follow on from her gold medal for the IP at the Australian Nationals earlier in the year.
While Jade receives some funding from Cycling Australia to attend these events, she still needs to contribute $4000 for the forthcoming Worlds. This forthcoming experience will help her to realise her long-term goal to represent Australia at the Olympic Games.
Jade has shown her dedication, ability to make the sacrifices and learn from achievements and disappointments alike. She is passionate about achieving her dream.
