Josh is an active 14 year old boy, who enjoys playing sports, playing music and learning to fly planes! Josh has represented his school, district and state in various sporting, academic and cultural endeavors. He is a real all rounder!
Josh began playing on a small, table top pool table that he received for Christmas. His passion and desire to want to learn the game rapidly grew. He was soon spending all his available time watching online tutorials and snooker events around he world on cable television. He, like most people that play the game, aspired to be the great, Ronnie O'Sullivan!
During an ANZAC Day march in 2016, Josh noticed the local Buderim Snooker and Billiards club. After months of relentless pressure, his father Jeremy decided to contact the club and make an enquiry as to whether or not juniors could join. He was welcomed in with open arms and received a number of coaching sessions.
It wasn't long before Josh's potting and strategical game had developed to a point where he could be competitive at state and national levels. In 2018, he competed in the U15 National Snooker and Billiards competitions, making it to the quarterfinals.
Determined to improve in all aspects of his game, Josh went away and practiced extremely hard. His hard work paid off. He won numerous snooker and billiards interclub competitions at his local Buderim club. The pinnacle of his year was in the 2019 U15 Snooker Championship, where he finished runner up, beaten in a closely contested five frame match that went down to the final black ball!
Due to his outstanding performance at the U15 National Championships, Josh has been selected to represent Australia at the upcoming IBSF World U16 Snooker Championships to be held in Russia in August.
Josh's fantastic achievement has drawn attention from various media outlets including the Sunshine Coast Daily and the Sunshine Coast news.
The opportunity to represent your country, in any capacity, is a dream of most people, and one that cannot be denied! In order to provide this chance, we need to raise enough money for Josh and an accompanying adult, approximately $5000. The Australian Billiards and Snooker Council has pledged $500 but we do need to raise a few thousand more.
This fundraising page gives businesses and individuals the opportunity to make tax deductible donations.
Any assistance in making this dream a reality is greatly appreciated.
