About the project

Distance runner Lara Hamilton achieved some of her best results in 2017, after only 2 years of competitive running, named the U20 Australian 5000m Silver Medalist, Australian National XC Champion U20 and 3rd at Australian Uni Games 5000m.

This year (2018) she has been selected to represent Australia in Switzerland at the 2018 FISU World XC Championships, and will also represent NSW on the Gold Coast at the Commonwealth Games Nomination trials and National Championships 5000m in February. Lara hopes to raise funds to support her on these endeavours.

Lara has continually improved in every race she has competed in, and is starting to show high promise in her future endeavours. This fundraising program has been established to help support her race entires and large travel costs to compete in Australia and hopefully qualify to compete internationally. Lara's short term goals are to constantly better her PBs in the 1500m/5000m events. In the long term she hopes to one day qualify for the Olympics in the 5000m/10000m, and potentially the Commonwealth Games. My run squad - Run Crew, have fostered my talent in running and continually help me to better myself in a well planned way. As a uni student, my costs for training/coaching, competing, travelling and recovery need to be balanced within my budget. This fundraising program will support me in achieving my above goals, including overseas competition, whilst being at The Conservatorium of Music on an intensive degree of Bachelor of Music Studies - (Classical Voice).
