About the project

Penny Slater is a Professional Triathlete looking to make her mark on the triathlon scene in 2018. Penny hopes to race the Xterra Asia Pacific Tour across 6 different countries and take home the elite womens title for overall winner of the tour. In doing this Penny can qualify for Xterra World Championships in October in which she placed 11th this year but hopes to crack the top 5 next year with the eventual dream of one day taking that world title. In order to race against a high class field Penny is required to travel to Asia, Europe and America to race next year so that she can remain in sharp form and gain valuable racing experiences leading into World Championships. In 2014 Penny picked up triathlon and quickly fell in love with the sport. After a few years of successful racing she faced a set back after a car accident in late 2015 which led to an ankle reconstruction and over 8 months rehabilitation. However, she was still able to get back into good enough form to compete at Cross Triathlon World Championships which was her breakthrough performance placing 3rd amateur female overall and World Champion in 20-24 age group and quickly gaining her elite licence after this. Penny has had a fantastic year in 2017 racing her first professional season with great results:2017 ITU Cross Triathlon U23 World Champion and 5th elite female, 2017 ITU U23 Aquathlon World Championships Bronze medallist, ITU Off-road National Championship 1st elite female, Xterra Asia Pacific Tour 3rd elite female and Xterra Philippines 2nd elite female. Penny recently returned from Xterra World Championships in Maui in which she placed 11th elite female. This was a great result however Penny was slightly disappointed and realised that all the women in front of her were training as full time athletes. This segwayed into the realisation that to truly be at the top of the field Penny needed to take a step back from work and uni to train and race. In order to race against the best and hopefully beat the best Penny has to train full time. Penny hopes to take a step back from working and uni next year so that she can fully commit to training and racing and give it the full dedication and hard work it deserves. However, this means that as she is still building a sponsorship base she needs funds to pay for travel costs. Any money donated to this page would mainly go towards flights to get to and from race locations. HELP HER ACHIEVE HER DREAMS
