Aidan Wilson lives in Orange, NSW and is in the U/18 National Development Squad for Water Polo. Aidan currently travels up to 1500km per week to train and play in Sydney for UNSW Wests. Given his travel challenges and reduced access to training opportunities, he has made remarkable progress. Any support you can provide to help Aidan achieve his goal of playing for Australia will make a huge difference. Aidan’s Journey Aidan Wilson is an emerging Water Polo athlete. In September, he was named in Water Polo Australia’s 2026 U/18 Development Squad 1, the top tier of the national program. Aidan lives in Orange, NSW and currently travels up to 1500km per week to train and play in Sydney for UNSW Wests. Given his travel challenges and reduced access to training opportunities, he has made remarkable progress. Water Polo Australia explains that its U16 and U18 squads have two tiers to recognise both current performance and developmental needs and that Squad 1 athletes are chosen because coaches have identified them as having “an elevated current level of performance and readiness for heightened development activity”. This selection is a massive testament to his dedication and skill over the last 5 years. Aidan’s selection is a huge honour, but it also brings significant responsibilities. The national program requires him to travel for high‑intensity training camps, state and national competitions - Aidan has a goal of making selection for the Australian Team to compete at the 2026 U/18 World Championships. These activities are mostly self‑funded and include costs for travel, accommodation, equipment, coaching and sports science support. Without financial help, representing Australia at the highest level would be challenging for any young athlete.
