ABOUT Henry Burton
Henry Burton began his journey in rowing as a coxswain at just 12 years old, steering the 1st IV Quad at St Ignatius College in Year 7/8. His talent and leadership quickly propelled him into senior crews, and by the age of 15, he was coxing the prestigious 1st VIII. Henry has since achieved remarkable success in the sport. He has won two Head of the River titles (2023 and 2025), and secured Gold at the Australian National Championships in both years, coxing the Schoolboys VIII. Internationally, Henry represented Australia at the Youth World Rowing Championships, where he led the U19 Men’s Eight to a Gold medal finish.
From the moment he took the rudder, Henry has dreamed of competing at the highest level in schoolboy rowing—the Henley Royal Regatta in the United Kingdom. Now, as Captain of Boats at St Ignatius College, Henry believes the 2025 1st VIII possesses both the belief and the capability to be a strong contender for the prestigious Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup.
The crew is driven by more than medals—they are motivated by the opportunity to inspire the next generation of young Australian athletes to show that with courage, commitment, and belief, anything is possible. Stepping onto the international stage is no small feat. It takes sacrifice, discipline, and resilience. But more importantly, it takes a leap of faith—to back yourself, your teammates, and your dream. Through our journey to the Henley Royal Regatta, we want to share not just our successes, but also the challenges, setbacks, and moments that tested us.
By telling our story, we hope to encourage athletes across all sports and backgrounds to pursue their goals relentlessly. Whether you're on the water, the field, or the court—if you're willing to put yourself out there, the possibilities are endless. We are living proof that belief, passion, and hard work can take you further than you ever imagined.
To help turn this vision into reality, he is seeking support to fund the crew's journey to Henley. Your generosity will directly enable this exceptional crew to compete on the world stage, representing both their school and country with pride and determination.
