Endurance Challenge - 2021
Norwood Morialta High School Rowing Club’s Endurance Challenge 2021 will bring together students across all year levels in physical, mental and team-building challenges. Across Term 4 rowers will participate in two gruelling endurance challenges.
Ergo Relay – All rowers will participate in a 4-Hour Ergo Relay in their year level squads, striving to row the furthest distance in the time period. It is high intensity no stop effort as rowers aim to balance speed, endurance and stamina against their peer competition. Fast changeovers, team tactics and mental toughness all come into play.
Norwood Long Row – Senior athletes will take the Endurance Challenge a step further with a 3-day Norwood Long Row. This student-driven endeavour, led by Year 11 Seb Cole, will see our Senior Squad tackle the mighty Murray River. Over a 3-day journey from Blanchetown to Mannum, our three Senior Male and Female Eights will row over 130km. This is a team-building challenge to bring the squad together as the athletes prepare for a journey of success to Head of the River 2022 and beyond.
As the students work towards the Endurance Challenge, they will aim to gain sponsorship for their physical efforts and commitment to the Program. To aid and encourage this, a reward structure is in place for students as they move through the different fundraising levels.
Norwood Morialta High School Rowing Club
The Norwood Morialta High School Rowing Club is in its 39th year since being established in 1982. There has been a hard-fought effort to ensure the Rowing Program has continued across this time, and in more recent years a resurgence of the underdog mentality has seen the Club grow to 90+ athletes.
In the 2021/2022 season, the Club is striving for its most successful season on and off the water, with an expected 40+ additional rowers to join at the beginning of 2022 and the largest senior squad ever maintained.
The rowers’ commitment, passion and inspiration are the driving forces behind their aspirations to be at the top of their sport in the State and take their performance to a national level.
To continue the Norwood Morialta High School Rowing Club’s ongoing evolution and resurgence as the underdog of rowing in South Australia we need your support. With the growing numbers of rowers and increasing success, the Club is in constant need of additional equipment on and off the water.
To meet the needs of the program and provide an inclusive and diverse range of opportunities for our rowers, we seek out the best possible deals on used and new equipment. Your financial support of our rowers and the Club will be greatly appreciated and allow us to continue our journey and development in the 2021/2022 season.
To encourage rower involvement and work towards larger fundraising goals, rowers will be rewarded as they achieve each fundraising goal as follows:
$20 - 2022 Style Rowing Club Socks
$60 - 2022 Style Rowing Cap
$120 - 2022 New Rowing Shirt/Polo Top
$250 - 2022 New Rowing Supporters Polo Top
