The Goolwa Regatta Yacht Club is an extremely active club that is keen to improve its clubhouse facilities. The project's objective is to increase the number of sailors participating at GRYC by 50% by 2020. The project involves · New ground-level covered areas, with overhead cover and plastic blinds, in front of the existing building facing the marina and River Murray, to protect people involved in yacht racing, boating and sail training activities from sun and other adverse weather. · Second-level additions and alterations, with a new bridge and observation deck, to improve management of safety obligations associated with yacht racing and sail training activities. All-weather protection is needed at ground-level and the second-level bridge extension is needed for oversight and safety management. These improvements will complement the all-year sailing that is a feature of Goolwa. They will allow the Club to host all-year junior and senior sailing events for GRYC, yacht class associations, schools and Yachting SA,all-year junior and senior sail training programs for GRYC, schools and Yachting SA, all-year Sailability events and training programs, and the hosting of major events, including events during the Goolwa Regatta Week, the Milang Goolwa Freshwater Classic, SA Wooden Boat Festival and other yacht and boating regattas.
