The Gosford Tennis Club operating under the Gosford District Tennis Association (GDTA) is located 3km's from the Gosford CBD, some 80km's north of Sydney, and is the largest tennis facility on the Central Coast that has a current population of approx. 350,000 people. The GDTA has a very proud tennis history at both Local, Regional and State levels with the game first played in the area in 1890, the formation of the Gosford Lawn Tennis Club in May 1906 and the establishment of the GDTA in early 1933. The GDTA has been an affiliate member of the Northumberland Region since 1933 and we are also very proud to have produced Australia’s last Australian Open champion, Mark Edmondson, in 1976, and other notable junior players Nathan Healey and Melissa Dowse who were previously world ranked ATP players. The Gosford Tennis Centre is a 23 court facility, designated as a Top 5 Tennis Australia nationally recognised Regional Tennis venue. On 31 December 2016, Central Coast Council provided a further 15 year community licence agreement on the provision that the club was operated by the GDTA, and that an approved master infrastructure infrastructure plan was executed during the licence period.
