Jack Newton Junior Golf Development

Jack Newton Junior Golf Development

The Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation was established in 1986 to introduce more young people to the game of golf and to nurture their skills and enjoyment of the sport. The objectives of JNJG are to establish and service a variety of golf programs for boys and girls that create pathways through the sport and cater for the beginner through to the elite. Programs range from the introduction of golf in schools through to elite level tournaments, attracting the best from interstate and overseas. JNJG has a development pathway that caters for all levels. JNJG is a non-profit organisation dependent upon the support and commitment of our donors and sponsors. Receiving grants from the NSW Government, the NSW Golf Association, Women's Golf NSW and our major fundraiser, The Jack Newton Celebrity Classic, provide the funds additional funds to develop our programs. Our major sponsors include The Kinghorn Foundation, Subaru, Srixon and Titleist. JNJG activities include a variety of junior golf tournaments, camps and clinics for all levels of players with emphasis on school programs to introduce young children to golf. JNJG also assists clubs and regional areas in the development of their junior programs. Programs for indigenous and disabled young people are also a priority. Within the philosophy of providing opportunities for all junior golfers of all ability levels is the statement of objectives of Jack Newton Junior Golf. These objectives are to:
  • increase the participation levels of junior golfers throughout the state of NSW
  • promote the game golf in the community and in schools
  • increase participation opportunities by expanding the number of coaching camps and clinics at regional and state level
  • increase and promote junior 'Age Division' golf tournaments
  • encourage the development of a coaching accreditation scheme for volunteers
  • develop a scholarship scheme to provide grants-in-aid to talented golfers for the development of their skills
  • ensure a sound future for golf in NSW
Our Australian Sports Foundation project primarily raises funds for the JNJG Schools Program, which provides teacher training and school kits and enables schools to introduce the sport of golf to students in primary and secondary school. In order to effectively transition the students to the sport, a gala day is held at the local golf course, further introducing them to golf enabling the students to join club junior programs and progress through the sport. In 2013 over 50,000 students participated in the program through school and Active After School Programs. Other activities funded by the project include the development of talent, the provision of a playing pathway from beginner to the elite player and appropriate Indigenous and disability programs. Donate today and help us support our talented youth and introduce golf to more young people. Find out more about us on our website or Facebook.
