Softball Australia Foundation

Softball Australia is the national governing body for softball in Australia.  Our membership comprises eight states and territories (Member States), associations, clubs and individual members who play, coach, officiate and support softball in Australia.  Many of our members have received recognition from Softball Australia, the ISF and the Australian Government for the significant contributions they have made to the growth and success of softball across Australia.  Our mission is to grow softball, for life, for all.

Australian softball has a rich and successful history at Olympic level, with the Australian women's team medalling at every Olympic Games in which softball has been played: 1996 – bronze, 2000 – bronze, 2004 – silver, 2008 – bronze.  As well as the outstanding success of our women’s teams at Olympic level, the Australian men’s teams have also been successful: junior men's team – world champions in 2008; men’s team – world champions in 2009.

Softball is an incredible game that is loved by millions all around the world.  It combines skill, fitness, strength, athleticism, intellect and strategy. It is filled with inspiring stories and opportunities for people to enrich their lives through a sport that is suitable for everyone no matter what age, gender or skill level.  Participation in softball gives people a sense of social connection, can lead to mental and physical health benefits and develop fundamental motor skills that are transferable across many areas of their lives.  For most people it is a recreational outlet, but for others it offers pathway programs that include state, national, college and professional opportunities.

The purpose the Softball Australia Foundation is to raise funds for the development of softball in Australia both at grassroots and high performance levels.

Tokyo, here we come!
In August 2016 it was announced that softball would be included in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, a long-anticipated return of women’s softball to its status as an Olympic sport.

So we are on the road to Tokyo and preparing for the Games by improving our high performance program to continue past success on the international stage, and building our grassroots programs to increase participation in the sport.

Help us on our journey by donating to the Softball Australia Foundation.  It can go towards the most needed priority at the time, or you can select a specific program that you feel passionate about, giving you control over where your contribution helps out.
