For all you netball clubs and players out there! Don't forget to register to give every girl the chance to be a netty star 🏐⭐️
Give for Goal is happening tomorrow! It's not too late to register, with all funds going to Confident Girls Foundation. The foundation provides opportunities for vulnerable girls to overcome these challenges and help them realise and achieve their dreams both on and off the netball court. Our latest Snapshot showed that cricket was underperforming in fundraising compared to other sports but as summer creeps closer now is the time for the cricket clubs to launch their best fundraising efforts!
CRICKET STRUGGLES: New figures from the Australian Sports Foundation show cricket's short on grassroots funding compared to other sports. Fundraising for sport is at record levels, but cricket is being left on the outer.
Love it! Congrats on the win gals, hopefully the first of many! Spartan Sports
Earlier this year the Australian Sports Foundation together with Spartan Sports offered equipmentf to sporting clubs Australia-wide as part of their Balls4All promotion. 1700 applications, requesting $3 million worth of equipment from across the nation were received, and Lakeside's application for a grant of Size 4 and Size 5 netballs was successful! We applied for the grant on the basis that we were wanting to start up a Under 9s team, providing an opportunity for those children involved in the Netta program the chance to play at an age appropriate level, rather than jump straight up to the Under 11s competition. Our netballs arrived late last week, meaning our brand new Under 9s girls were able to train with them Friday and play with them on Saturday (yesterday) - leading to their very first win of the season!! Smiles all around, especially Rosie Bacher and Tracey Phegan. Go Lakeside Gems!! And thank you ASF and Spartan Sports!!
Out of the 170+ athletes, we have registered to fundraise with us, heaps of them are parathletes and all have unique stories about how they became a parathlete. Jason Sauer had a heroin overdose nearly seven years ago which resulted in having to have a life-saving operation that meant removing both his legs. 7 years on Jason has learned to ski and bobsled using a prosthetic attachment. Currently Jason is fundraising to support the next season of ski and bobsled events, at the moment he is ranked 15 in the Para Bobsled Racing Championship http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-08-14/jason-sauer-mount-hotham-osteointegration-surgery/8804254
For champion sit skier Jason Sauer, having no legs is no barrier to the freedom of movement on the snow.

Only 3 of the 28 players in the Wallaroos squad are paid professionals, the other players say they do it for the love of the game and the honour of wearing the green and gold. The 'fairy-godmother' of the Wallaroos Josephine Sukkar, however helped the women's team out financially, donating $200,000 through the Australian Rugby Foundation. http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2017-08-01/wallaroos-selected-for-world-cup-but-pay-remains-issue/8764342?pfmredir=sm
