So cute! Go Barbarians have a ripper season!
Barbarians’ focus is getting a rugby ball in the hand of as many kids as possible so they have lots of fun and enjoy playing rugby. Thank you Australian Sports Foundation for helping to make this happen through Balls4All. Your support helps us to ignite in kids the spirit of rugby and a lifelong passion for sport. Our U6s and U7s, our youngest Barbarians, are the first to try out the new Spartan Sports Balls and they are LOVING them!
As the End of Financial Year creeps closer, why not think about making a tax-deductible donation to a super star organisation? Hoops4life.com run safe and fun basketball competitions for young people who can't afford to participate in community sport. Hoops4Life works with a lot of disadvantaged kids and focuses on changing negative behavior before they put themselves 'at risk'. This program is also delivered in schools and youth detention centres - sounds like a winner to us! http://www.hoops4life.com.au/
The program started in Adelaide's northern suburbs in 2005 with a group of 30 kids. Since then more than 2,000 young people have taken part.
HAPPY HUMP DAY! One step closer to weekend sport like this club from Bacchus Marsh who will be breaking in the new soccer balls they received through our Giving4Grassroots grant! ⚽️☀️🌈 #football #soccer #grassroots #soccerballs #local #weekend #australiansport #sport #active

Football is known as the world game but as far as fundraising goes they are falling behind. Aussie Rules' clubs are leading the charge in the number one fundraising spot followed by Golf and then Rugby Union. Stats show that football is still hugely popular in Aus and has the highest participation numbers of any sport which is GREAT NEWS because it means there is awesome opportunity to grow their fundraising efforts in the future. https://www.fourfourtwo.com.au/news/asf-we-can-show-football-the-money-464986 FourTwoFour on Fairfax
Australian football is missing out on vital grass roots funding because local clubs aren’t taking advantage of a more effective way of fundraising says Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) CEO Patrick Walker.

This week the Project of the Week is a bit different to our usual ones - Merricks Yacht Club Younger Set. Many functions at Merricks Yacht Club are attended by 3 generations and as the only public building in the village MYC wanted the clubhouse to be a hub for the community however the staircase at the yacht club had become too risky to tackle for the older generation or those with a disability. The community of Merrick Beach got together and through a great fundraising project the club raised $91,000 to install a vertical lift at the clubhouse and people who had not been able to access the clubhouse for years were finally able to get back to the community!

Our athlete fundraising program launched a few weeks ago and it's really taken off with heaps of talented athletes jumping onboard - this week our project of the week is one of our new athletes, Brittani Nicholl. Brittani is Australia's team captain at the ISA world surfing games coming up at the end of the month in France but it was not all smooth waters to get to that level. When she was seven, Brittani was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a gastrointestinal disorder with no cure. For the last 20 years, Brittani has constantly put up a fight to overcome this debilitating disease and has become an Ambassador for Crohn's & Colitis Australia. A donation to Brittani will assist with flights, accomodation and equipment costs as well as her ongoing medical costs! Read Brittani's full story here https://asf.org.au/athletes/brittani-nicholl/
