An anonymous benefactor donated two new catamarans to the Richmond River Sailing and Rowing Club for use in their Learn to Sail program.
Club commodore Phill Robbins said “the new boats have proven a hit with the younger sailors when they are ready to move on from a Bic [sailboat for beginners]”
Robbins said the donor who is also a member of the club was continuing the family tradition of donating to the club and that the one stipulation was that the yachts be named after the donor’s beloved cats.
The donation through the Sports Foundation of the new boats was already exciting the younger kids about sailing with one of the ten-year-old “up and coming sailors” taking her mum out for a sail on the new Narca.
Members of the Richmond Club are now getting ready for the start of the new season which begins at the end of January. The club are also holding a learn to sail day on Sunday 4th February for kids and adults of any age to attend.
