Bathurst Football kicking goals in 2017

25 January 2017

Changes and improvements to the football facilities at Proctor Park and Police Paddock in Bathurst could mean significant growth and opportunity for the sport.

In an opinion piece by the Western Advocate, Bathurst local and football advocate Tony Thorpe said the sport development program Supa Skills could be a valuable point of difference for football in Bathurst. Supa Skills is a program developed by former Liverpool FC player and Aussie Craig Johnston, where players’ skills are refined into a training regime.

Thorpe goes on to point out the difference broad stakeholder support made towards the development of the Bathurst Bike Park and is confident that football can also grow in the community.

Since the time of this article’s publication, Bathurst Community Op-Shop’s Pass-It forward Football Program became one of the recipients of our Giving4GrassrootsTM grants.

As mentioned in the Western Advocate, the Bathurst Op-Shop was awarded $10,000 allowing Bathurst Football Club to purchase an inflatable football pitch and this grant will hopefully aid in Tony Thorpe’s vision to see football grow in his town.
