What a time to be an Aussie sports fan – the Australian Open and Asian Cup were amazing and with Cricket’s world cup just around the corner it’s sure to be a big finish to the summer of sport!
It’s also a busy time off the field, with several major fundraising campaigns launching in earnest, so it is an exciting time for many of our project partners. I’d like to highlight just a couple of campaigns that have particularly caught my attention in recent weeks.
We are working with Surfing Australia on a heart-warming project to raise over $200,000 to put more than 2000 underprivileged Aussie kids through their Surf For Life program. Surf For Life has been running for the past 2 years, and has a life-changing impact on the kids involved. Look out for Surf For Life Week from 12-19 February, and find out more – or donate to help an underprivileged kid – by visiting their project page.
With Rio seemingly just around the corner, our Aussie Olympic teams are raising much-needed funds to help us compete with the cashed up Brits and Americans. Cycling Australia this week launched Pursuit for Gold, in order to raise $1m to give Anna Meares and the rest of the Cycling team the best chance of winning gold in Rio. There are legions of keen cyclists out there who would love to see us reach #1 in Rio, so if you are one of those and would like to help, please join the Aussie Cycling team in their Pursuit for Gold.
