Yachtswoman Lisa Blair is one of our individual athletes and we’re super excited to be supporting her on her journey to the 2017 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
Lisa’s boat will be the first all female-crew in 16 years, which highlights the need for such a campaign. Lisa and The Magenta Project aim to use this race to encourage more women to sail and to continue to promote Lisa’s positive environmental message Climate Action Now. Lisa’s yacht Climate Action Now will be raced with eight crew taking four experienced sailors and partnering them with four emerging sailors to offer a unique opportunity to mentor young woman in the sailing industry.
The iconic race begins in a few days, but Lisa’s boat still faces a $20,000 funding gap.
“I’ve had an amazing amount of support but we are still struggling to raise the last couple of thousand we need to make this happen” Lisa told Big Sports Breakfast.
“In the meantime, I’m using all the money I can find, beg, borrow and steal from my family.
“The Australian Sports Foundation are able to make donations tax-deductible for athletes like myself, it does make a huge difference to me being able to get people to donate and it is an incentive to donate.
Your donations will be going towards ensuring that Climate Action Now is prepared to the right safety standards and ensure that Lisa can cover all running and associated race costs.
