How loud can you cheer?

       How strong is your voice?

               Can you be any prouder?

Brisbane Metro Baseball has a representative team of 12 boys and 1 girl who are about to travel to Adelaide, hoping to win the 2023 Australian Junior League Championships. We would love to be able to hear you all the way down in South Australia!!

The Team …... Brisbane Metro is a region made up of just 4 clubs: All Stars, Carina Redsox, Windsor Royals and Pine Hills Lightning. This team of 13- and 14-year-old kids would love nothing more than to eat, sleep and breathe baseball have been selected from players across the region’s 4 clubs.

Their representative training commenced even before their regular season finished and they haven’t stopped since. Recently, the team competed at the Junior League State Titles against some very talented and fierce competition. They fought hard over 3 days, winning the gold medal and the right to represent Queensland at the National Championships. Yeah, Queenslander!

The Challenge ….. Tournament baseball is very different to regular club season baseball. Most of the team, at some time during the tournament, will have to pitch - whether they are a regular pitcher for their club or not. Catchers can be asked to catch back-to-back games or days in a row. Coaches for a Junior tournament need to ensure that everyone gets a certain amount of time on the field every game. The team’s first game of the day could be 8am, while the second game may be hours later. If you have a bad game, you need to be able to shake it off, to give your best for the next. And if that is not enough, you must play better as a team than all the other teams competing. It’s a challenging and demanding way to play one of the best games in the world.

Come late May, the kids and their coaches will be plying their trade and being swept along by their passion for the sport they love. They will be competing against the best from around Australia, fighting for the chance to represent Australia at the World Series in [Michigan, USA]. 9 teams over 5 days …. bring it on!!

The Vision ….. It’s not difficult to appreciate that familiar faces, encouraging words, and unwavering faith in a person’s abilities can make the world of difference to a player’s performance and mindset. Hence it is no surprise that the families of these young athletes have committed to traveling to Adelaide and leave no stone unturned to help their young players to take another big step towards achieving their baseball dreams.

Your support can change everything. Our time to fund raise is limited so we are asking for your help to spread the word and grow our online family of support for these players. But most importantly, by helping fund the fees for umpires, officials, field costs, food, flights, and accommodation, you’ll be helping turn our vision into victory. That’s definitely something worth cheering about. QUEENSLANDER!

It will cost each family between $2500 and $3000 for their baseball star to attend the National Championships. Any assistance you can provide will be profoundly appreciated.

Along with any donations you may be kind enough to spare for these kids, your words of encouragement and support will be shared with them via their coaches.

It is More than a Trip Away …. Some of us have been to Nationals before and, without a word of a lie, it was an experience of a lifetime for those kids lucky enough to qualify. Those that went last time forged an unbreakable bond between themselves and their coaches, living with each other away from mum and dad and while pitting themselves against the best in Australia for 5 straight days. That life molding experience has helped shape those kids as the leaders that they are for respective clubs, as coaches, umpires and supporters. Yes, we are biased but we love these kids. They are all family now and we would love for you to be part of our online family as well.

We know that you are already cheering us on, now we need your help to put another win on the board. We are running an online raffle for QLD residents, so if a donation isn't your thing, then please look at https://rafflelink.com.au/brisbanemetrojl2023 to see if the prizes take your interest.
