About the project

The Adelaide Lightning is an iconic women's basketball team that competes in the WNBL. The team is one of the most successful in WNBL history winning five Championships. Despite the amazing success on the court, unfortunately, commercial revenue is limited for female sports, especially in non-eastern states, leaving the team short each year of around $500,000.

Adelaide Lightning is a club that values inclusion and is a proud member of the South Australian community. We want to be a club that represents the community and give YOU some ownership of the team. For the team to remain sustainable we need the help of the South Australian community. That is why we want you to put your name or your business name on the playing singlet and help keep the women in the building! Losing elite pathways also impacts participation in the sport so you will also be helping to keep young girls active and motivated to stay in the game.

The Adelaide Lightning have partnered with the Australian Sports Foundation so all donations of $2 or more to the Be The Fabric of the Lightning - Put Your Name on the Singlet project are tax deductible. We will recognise our donor's names in the design of the regular home playing singlet, so up close you can see your own name and the players will be literally wearing your support. For the design to work, spots on the singlet are strictly limited to the first 1,000 donors who make a voluntary donation of $500 or more.

To ensure that the Adelaide Lightning remains part of the WNBL please make a tax deductible donation today! #all4one

I’ve been a fan of Adelaide Lightning from the Rachael Sporn, Jo hill, Debbie Copley days and still call these players my friends. to have the ability to give something back and help keep Lightning financial is a no brainer and something I will always look back on with fond memories forever.

Barossa Basketball are excited and happy to donate to the Lightning, as we have a long legacy with the Club, which, as a country association we are very proud of! Barossa girl, Kathy Hahn, played in the fore-runner to the Lightning, the Adelaide Comets, Lesley Grieger was a part of the WNBL Championship team of 1998, that featured Rachel Sporn & Jo Hill among others, and was coached by the legendary Jan Stirling. And now, our latest Barossa export, Chelsea Brook continues the connection.
