About the project
Established in 1975, the Albert Bell Club (ABC) is an organisation that exists to “support rowing at the Geelong College in any and every possible way”.
In 2016, the ABC Committee created the Colin Carstairs Bell Rowing Pathway Bursary (CC Bell) that will provide bursaries for rowers leaving school and wishing to continue rowing. Recent school leavers indicate that club subscription fees are getting onerous, and coupled with regatta entry fees can be upward of $1,000 per annum, which makes ongoing participation financially challenging.
Our goal is to gift up to $10,000 per annum to non-elite and elite rowers. We believe that through engaging with our rowing school leavers that we at Geelong College and the Albert Bell Club will enhance the development of talent in Australia, support our ongoing success in the sport and possibly inspire other schools to adopt similar programs.
We believe that we can play an important role in connecting school rowers with the broader rowing community, from school transition to club rowing.
