Journey to 2025 World Para Athletics Championships

Journey to 2025 World Para Athletics Championships

My name is Alexander McKillop (Aged 23). I am a member of the OVA Athletics Club, Tasmania. My coach is Rosie Coleman. The Tasmanian Institute of Sport support me with athlete development.

I have been competing as a T36 Para Athlete since I was 14 in 100m & 200m Ambulant events. My goal is to represent Australia at the Paralympic Games in 2028/2032 for the 100m. My current PB for the 100m is 12.16 seconds.

This year my goal is to be selected by Australian Athletics to compete in the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India 26 Sept - 5 Oct 2025.

I am currently ranked 3rd in the world in my T36 classification for the 100m.

I have previously represented Australia and medalled in the Melanesian Games in Vanuatu (2018), the Arafura Games (2019), and Oceania Athletics Championships (2022, 2024). At 2024 Australian Athletics Championships, I achieved Bronze in the 100m Ambulant and Gold in the 200m Ambulant events.

I am yet to represent Australia at the World Para Championships or the Paralympic Games which is my dream.

My home state is Tasmania. I need to attend multiple interstate events throughout my athletics journey to enable me to meet with, and compete against, other high performance para-athletes. This year I have been invited to compete in the Ambulant 100m events at the Melbourne Invitational (4th) and Sydney Track Classic (3rd).

Due to my disability, Rosie, my coach, attends all competitions with me to assist me with my journey. Rosie has volunteered her time as a coach for 33 years and has coached and supported my journey for the past 9 years.

The cost for both Rosie and I to attend the interstate competitions is significant. Any financial support to help me reach my dream of representing Australia at the Paralympic Games would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for supporting me with my athletics journey and dream to represent Australia at the 2025 World Para Athletics Championships.
