My name is Alexander McKillop (Aged 22). I am a member of the OVA Athletics Club, Tasmania. My coach is Rosie Coleman. The Tasmanian Institute of Sport support me with athlete development.

I have been competing as a T36 Para Athlete since I was 14 in 100m & 200m Ambulant events. My goal has been to represent Australia at the Paralympic Games for the 100m. This year I have run one B Qualifier, but I need to run 2, to be eligible for selection. I have run 4 other wind assisted times that are not allowed to be counted as legal qualifiers. I am currently ranked 3rd in the world (even after the current World Para Championships). I am proud and excited to have recently been selected to represent Australia at the Oceania Athletics Championships in Suva, Fiji. I am hoping that I will be able to run another B Qualifier at this event!

I have previously represented Australia and medalled in the Melanesian Games in Vanuatu (2018), the Arafura Games (2019), and Oceania Athletics Championships in Townsville (2022). At the recent Australian Athletics Championships, I achieved Bronze in the 100m Ambulant and Gold in the 200m Ambulant events.

I am yet to represent Australia at the World Para Championships or the Paralympic Games which is my dream.

My home state is Tasmania. I have needed to attend multiple interstate events throughout my athletics journey to enable me to meet with, and compete against, other high performance para-athletes. This year I have been invited to compete in the Ambulant 100m events at the Melbourne Invitational (4th) Canberra Track Classic (4th), and UniSport Athletics Nationals (Gold)

Due to my disability, Rosie, my coach, attends all competitions with me to assist me with my journey. Rosie has volunteered her time as a coach for 32 years and has coached and supported my journey for the past 8 years.

The cost for both Rosie and I to attend these interstate competitions and the Oceania Athletics Championships is significant. Any financial support to help me reach my dream of representing Australia at the Paralympic Games would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for supporting me with my athletics journey and dream to represent Australia at the 2024 Paralympic Games.
