My name is Alexandra Hulley, I'm a 26 year old elite hammer thrower living in Rouse Hill in Sydney, NSW. I would love it if you could support me on my journey to achieving my dream of becoming an Olympian!

I am the 5 x Australian National Champion in the women's hammer throw. I'm ranked 4th All Time Australian in the women's hammer throw, with a personal best of 70.55m. After only just missing out on selection for the 2020 (2021) Olympic Games, I represented Australia at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, where I finished 18th in the world, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, finishing in 6th place. The highlight of my career so far has been placing 2nd at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast! All of these competitions have fuelled my passion for becoming an Olympian, which I have dreamt of since I started throwing in 2010.

Not many people know that I sustained an injury to my back at the end of 2022 and ended up having to undergo 2 spinal surgeries in June and October in 2023. This meant I needed to take about 12 months off training and missed out on the 2023 World Championships, and unfortunately will not be back training in time to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games. While sustaining this injury at the beginning was devastating, it has only made me want to come back better in the 2025 season and beyond!

I am a totally self-funded athlete with no sponsorship or financial support from my national sporting organisation. I work part-time as an Occupational Therapist which provides me with a balance between work and training and also helps financially with day-to-day costs such as petrol to and from training, coaching fees and some throwing equipment.

The costs of elite sport are extensive and I have been lucky to have the support of my family for the past 13 years to assist me financially. The funds raised will be used for medical costs related to my injury, travel and training expenses in 2025-2028 including airfares, accommodation, track and gym access fees, training camps, as well as throwing equipment including shoes, hammers, wires and gloves.
