Alexis Reid (age 13) recently competed at 2022 World Taekwondo Championships Cadet / Junior selection event and won a gold medal. She has now selected to represent Australia at the 2022 World Taekwondo Cadet Championships to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria (Europe) from the 28th to 31st July 2022
Unfortunately there is no funding available for the Championships with Australian Taekwondo association, who have asked each athlete to seek sponsorship assistance from local councils, state association, fundraiser campaigns.
The Final expense by Australian Taekwondo for Alexis to be part of the Australian Team for this championship is $7,000.
Alexis started her Taekwondo journey at the age of 5, with hard work, dedication, passion, tears, sweat and pure love she has had remarkable success at local, state and National Level. By the time she was 10 she had earn't her 1st Dan Black Belt, then by 12 had earned her 2nd Dan Black Belt. Training with Haktari Taekwondo Academy in Lithgow, she has had the expert training and knowledge of Master Jeff Crane and assistant Misty Walsh who also give up their time to take Alexis to Sydney for other training.
Leading up selections Alexis was training 4 days a week at her club Haktari Taekwondo and then travelling 2 days a week to Sydney to train with other clubs (only a 2 hr drive each way). Her training schedule on the way to Worlds has not changed from this. While still managing to keep up with her high academic grades and the pressures of Year 8.
We are fundraising with the Australian Sports foundation for Alexis to represent Australia at the 2022 Worlds Taekwondo Championships.
All donations, no matter how small, will help Alexis represent Australia at World Level at such a young age. The biggest advance of using the Australian Sports Foundation is that all donations are tax deductible so you can recoup some of your donation at tax time!
