Alice Williams Olympic Campaign 2024

Alice Williams Olympic Campaign 2024

Since the age of 10, Alice has had a dream of competing at the Olympic Games.

She first got a taste for this dream when she was selected in the Australian Junior representative team in 2015, which travelled to New Zealand to compete in the Youth World Championships. When making her first Senior Australian team appearance at age 18 in 2017, her dream started to feel attainable. Playing in tournaments including the Intercontinental Cup, World League Finals and winning bronze at the World Cup ignited an unwavering desire for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, but what continued to fuel her dream was her passion, dedication and love for the sport.

After being selected for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Squad at aged 22, her dream was within reach. Pushing hard for selection for over 4 years had earned her a spot in the squad and the finish line was fingertips away. However, devastatingly, this dream fell short after deselection from the squad months before the Olympic Games. The dream, which had seen blood (literally), sweat and tears invested into since the age of 10, came crashing down.

After the heartache and disappointment, Alice is back in 2022 with a fire lit under her and a resolute desire to continue to pursue her dream of competing in an Olympic Games. Major stepping stones for this have been achieved through selection in the FINA World Championships Teams in 2022 and 2023, with a 4th place finish and mention in the tournament team in her debut World Championships in 2023. Along with this, she has received a nomination into Female Athlete of the Year, 2023.

Being an athlete is a full-time job. In order to compete, athletes must get adequate sleep, nutrition, recovery, physiotherapy and medical treatment, as well as travel with representative teams internationally for weeks to months at a time, making it difficult to maintain a job. Any donation that you make, no matter how big or small, will significantly enhance Alice's career as an athlete and support her in her dream of becoming an Australian Olympic Athlete.
