Abbey, Scarlett and Allegra have been selected on the Australin Gymnastics Team for the World Age Championships which will be held in Braga, Portugal in September this year. After winning the World Trials Competition for the 13 – 19 Years Women’s Trio in November last year, their place on the team was guaranteed. The competition expects over 700 gymnasts from over 24 countries.

Acrobatic gymnastics is a competitive discipline of gymnastics where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform figures consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music. There are three types of routines; a 'balance' routine where the focus is on strength, poise, and flexibility; a 'dynamic' routine which includes throws, somersaults, and catches, and a 'combined' routine which includes elements from both balance and dynamic.

Acrobatic gymnastics is not an Olympic sport, hence, the World Age Championships is the highest level of competition open to these athletes. The girls train on average 23-25hours per week, whilst maintaining school and personal commitments. The trio set a goal two years ago to qualify for the Australia team and wear the green and gold. 

The sport is 100% self-funded from training wear to competition entry and associated travel costs. With several competitions throughout the year interstate, many in their own state and international travel, the costs are high.
