Altona Yacht Club

CALD Sailing Project

About

Altona Yacht Club is conducting a community project that enables young, local members of CALD communities (Culturally & Linguistically Diverse) to enrol in its Junior & Senior Sailing Training courses. This project will enrol 16 adults (16-25) & 4 juniors (12-16) for a 2 year plan. Adult courses are for 10 weeks & juniors 20 weeks (sailing season).

Altona YC has previously had some extremely positive results with this program. Participants are from local Maori, Polynesian & Indigenous backgrounds from the local NZ Maori Polynesian Welfare Support Group (NZMPWSG) with whom they have developed a strong bond. The club would like to continue and expand the program to include other local CALD groups.

Altona YC has been successful obtaining some grants to pay for the CALD participants' club training fees but needs more funds to buy training boats to continue and expand their CALD Sailing Project.

Please make a tax deductible donation today to support this very worthwhile program.
