My name is Angelika Andreson and I will be attending the Worlds Distance Outrigger Championship in Samoa- representing Australia as a part of a Junior 19 crew. On February 24th, I qualified in the individual (oc1) Junior 19 outrigger canoe competition in Sydney, completing 12km. This led me to a selection camp in Redcliffe where six J19 individuals were chosen to compete in Samoa. Of course, leading up to the competition, I will be involved in a monthly training camp along with thorough training at my local outrigger club in Mission Beach. This will take time, commitment, and determination especially being in my last year of school, in order to do well as a team, and to do our upmost best against other girls from all around the world! This is an awesome opportunity I am fortunate to be a part of, however, of course comes with great costs.
