Annabelle Shelton: Australian Team Selection

Last September Annabelle Shelton was honoured to captain the Far Northern NSW 14’s girls team at the National Schools Futsal Championships in Brisbane against teams from right across the country. Her team made the semifinals in their first ever competition together.

From her strong leadership and court skills shown at this tournament, Annabelle has now been selected to represent Australia in the 14’s girls Futsal team on their international tour of the United Kingdom in April 2023, featuring matches against national teams from England, Scotland and Wales.

As you can imagine, an international tour of this magnitude comes as a big financial endeavour .

All assistance no matter how big or small will be greatly appreciated. 

Annabelle is 13 years old and a year 7 student at Nambucca Valley Christian Community School. She is an enthusiastic sportsperson having regularly represented the school at State and Regional carnivals in swimming, athletics, cross country, soccer, touch football and most recently futsal.

Annabelle has been playing football since she was around 6 years old and is currently playing up in the 16’s girls team for Bellingen Football Club, even though she is still only 13, in the North Coast Football region. She was a member of their winning Champion of Champions tournament team and she and her team just won the 16’s girls division grand final. Her dream is to play for the Matildas at the 2032 Olympics in Brisbane and hopes that this international tour selection is a step towards that dream
