Some of the world’s greatest tennis players including Rod Laver, Evonne Goolagong-Cawley and Pat Rafter have come from rural and regional Australia. Tennis is one of the toughest and financially challenging sports to play at the highest Grand Slam level due to travel, coaching and equipment investment; even more so for kids from rural and regional areas of Australia.

The Judy Dalton Country Cup is a National Team Competition providing the opportunity for the best and brightest 13 and under tennis players from rural and regional Australia to compete against each other while representing their States and Territories. Although tennis is an individual sport this event gives players the enjoyment of playing within a supportive team environment. The Foundation Cup has been running successfully for over 20 years. It inspires and encourages 13 and under players from Wagga Wagga to Broome and everywhere in between to be active, compete to their best level and make lifelong friendships.

What we do for the event

The Women's Tennis Foundation Inc along with its partners manage player accommodation, meals and transport during the event to provide the players with the same experience as a professional tennis player, an opportunity and experience of a lifetime. We aim to make tennis accessible to all Australians and this event highlights our dedication to uncovering the next generation of rural and regional talent.

How you can help

By donating to this magnificent event, you are helping support kids from rural and regional Australia to have a life changing experience. In the future we aim to expand on the experience we give the players and support we can give to their families.

Rosemary Barrett (18th August 1952 - 27th July 2021) was a life member of the Port Melbourne Tennis Club and an avid follower of the Fed Cup Girls whom she supported for many years. As a way of remembering Rosie’s life our Midweek Group decided to raise money to donate to the Womens Tennis Foundation. We would be delighted to hear how this money will be spent - hopefully to support an up coming star which we are sure would bring a smile to Rosie’s face. With good wishes. PMTC MIDWEEKERS
