About the project

This program will benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by introducing them to the physical, health and social benefits of playing Ultimate Frisbee. As a non-contact, self-refereed team sport, Ultimate Frisbee has benefits beyond most other sports. A key focus of development is teaching about Spirit of the Game, which encompasses fair play, conflict resolution, care for others, honesty, respect, integrity and leadership.

This program will be run in partnership with the Indigenous Ultimate Association (Aboriginal Corporation ICN:7318). See for more information about their activities.

The activities to be supported include:

  • sending coaches to teach ultimate frisbee to Indigenous communities
  • providing equipment (e.g. frisbees) to Indigenous communities
  • administrative support for social or competitive Ultimate Frisbee in or between Indigenous communities
  • developing coaching and administrative capabilities within Indigenous communities

Ultimate Frisbee also a strong emphasis on developing youth leadership and striving for gender equity, particularly encouraging girls to participate in and lead sporting activities. We will apply these strategies to all of our Indigenous programs.

These development activities will be delivered to metropolitan, country and remote Indigenous communities.

We aim to raise $10,000 per year over the next 3 years to support this program.
