Visit websiteAustralia has a long and proud history in lacrosse. With a history tracing all the way back to 1874, lacrosse has an association with Australia that outlasts the Commonwealth itself.
Since the inaugural World Championship which was held in 1967 in Ontario, Canada, our Australian lacrosse players have taken on the World's best, with our Women being crowned World Champions on two occasions and our Men claiming the silver three times.
Despite a small but passionate playing base, and despite being almost entirely self funded, our Australian lacrosse teams have consistently been a force, regularly taking on the countries with more resources and playing numbers and not only holding their own, but often beating them.
In 2020 it is the turn of our Australian U19 Mens team, the Crocodiles. This team consists of 26 dedicated and incredibly talented athletes who have earned their right to don the Green and Gold at the 2020 World Lacrosse U19 Men's World Championship.
The cost to represent their country is immense. From squad camps and tryouts, the financial impost is already signficiant before they board their plane. Once selected, the team must then participate in more squad camps and domestic tournaments before heading to Baltimore for the World Championship tune up and then onto the World Championship itself.
Our goal is simple. We are looking to use our reach to call upon all Australian lacrosse fans to put in as little, or as much as they want, to help get these guys to Ireland.
This project forms part of the ALN's Aussie Lax Project where the ALN will run a number of project designed to benefit all levels of lacrosse in Australia, from grassroots to National teams. If this project is of no interest to you, please make sure that you keep an eye out for our other projects which we will be running from time to time.
