About the project
Australia Rugby has an exciting future and a unique opportunity to drive interest in our game and fan engagement like never before, between 2022 and 2032 our National Teams will be on the world stage at home and abroad and we have the opportunity to host some of the biggest events in world rugby global sport.
Our purpose is to maximise Rugby’s Golden Decade (RGD) of 2022 2032. The Australian Rugby Foundation is a valuable asset to capitalise on RGD to supercharge the business.
Our primary goal is to realise the global economic value of rugby by raising funds from high net worth
individuals and other supporters to enable investment in the game through the following programs, including;
Building a sustainable system for winning that is consistent from top to bottom with a clear focus on elite pathways (recruiting, retaining and repatriating players from schoolboys to established AUS players from overseas) via;
- Youth Retention U16 - U19 Age Group
“Fighting Fund” to arrest the decline of elite emerging Rugby Union players being recruited by NRL.
- Annual Australian U16 and U18 tours to the UK
These would be 3 week tours taking place in December. The current U16 Championships have provided a key point of difference between rugby and NRL. A tour to the UK will be a huge opportunity to take advantage of this difference and it will definitely secure more young talent into the sport. A significant retention tool as players leave school.
