Hi, I'm Bailey Lewis, a 26 years old, professional full-time Taekwondo athlete from Melbourne, Australia,

My Taekwondo journey began at the of 5 joining a local sporting club, City West Taekwondo. After winning a gold medal (youth division) at my first International competition in Edinburgh, Scotland 2014 the journey and dream of Olympic success began. Since entering senior open divisions at the age of 17 until now I have competed in 27 countries across the globe, including at 5 world championships and many prestigious open events climbing up world rankings.

Through hard work and the help of many quality people around me I have won 10 international gold medals and achieved 31 podiums, resulting in my current world ranking of 14 and qualification for my first Olympic Games in Paris, France. I will fight in the Male -58kg division on Day 1 of the Taekwondo Olympic Schedule starting Wednesday 7th August 2024. I aim to make my nation and supporters proud!

Training to win at this event has been a long-term goal and I believe I have what it takes to achieve Olympic success. The hardest challenge I face as a pro athlete, is that my full-time training/travelling/competition schedule prevents me from working regular hours to earn a decent income to get on top of general living expenses. Despite every effort and good support networks, financial strains are real, with limited sponsorship, scholarships and grants available. These funds barely cover the costs of my travel and accommodation when I am away competing.

This is where I could do with your help, especially with the Games fast approaching. If I am to be successful, my focus must remain on the mats to keep my Olympic dream real and attainable.
