The Barwon Heads Golf Club Future Fund

The Barwon Heads Golf Club Future Fund

The Barwon Heads Golf Club has been a source of great pleasure to our members since its formation in 1907. Past members showed great vision in selecting the site for our wonderful course and constructing a world class links course and clubhouse. From time to time members have made significant donations to the Club to ensure its development.

In 1919 four members T E Bostock, S F Mann, W B McCann and W M Bell subscribed the capital to purchase Hopgood's Farm and Farmhouse which originally included what is now 38 subdivided blocks of Stephens Parade. The Club also owned the blocks in Golf Links Road to Ramsgate Street as well as Bostock Avenue. From time to time the Club has made a call on members or sold land to fund major initiatives or overcome significant financial challenges. The Club history mentions periods 'so heavily burdened by debt.'

It is in this context that we have established the Future Fund. The purpose is to preserve and improve the Club's preeminent position amongst golf clubs in Australia. The measure of the Fund’s success will be the extent to which it has sufficient funds to deal with unplanned opportunities and unforseen eventualities. The Fund’s resources will be applied to finance capital works, improvements, projects and asset acquisition (see Club Rule 58).

The Club, the governors of the Fund and every member welcome your donations, gifts, bequests, legacies including all forms of deferred gifts and undertake to acknowledge your contribution.
