Hi my name is Bohdan Hassell and I have been playing inline hockey in Bendigo, central Victoria at my home club The Bendigo BLAZE. I have been playing with this club since I was 6 years old working towards being as fast and as talented as my hockey idols.

My hard work across the years has payed off and my achievements to date include first representing my home state of Victoria in the under 9s team and being named team captain. Since then I have been selected every year. This year I am thrilled to not only be playing for the Victorian under 17’s and under 23’s teams but I also get the opportunity to give back to my Victorian Inline Hockey family by being the assistant coach for the Victorian under 9’s team alongside my very first VIC coach.

Within my inline hockey I have been lucky enough to represent Australia in the 2019 AAU Junior Olympics in Hawaii. And was selected for Australian teams in 2020 and 2021, however, unfortunately these were canceled due to COVID-19. In 2022 I travelled to Michigan, America and competed at State Wars 18 for the Aussie Roos.

My highlight to date though is that I have finally achieved one of my hockey dreams and been selected this year to play in Italy for the Australian Junior Men’s team at the World Skate Games.

I grew up in a family that is passionate about their family and music. I was around ones I loved and ones that supported me through both good and bad times. A solid for me alongside my family and friends has always been my hockey community, my hockey family. They have done more for me that they will ever truly know.
