My name is Braithe Searle, and I have a passion for traditional shotokan karate. In September 2024, I have been selected to represent Australia at the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF) competition in London. I am the youngest of the squad at the age of 14.

I began my journey at the age of 5 and enjoyed the challenges and discipline karate has taught me along the way. I began competing at the age of 6 and have continuously represented my state of South Australia at Traditional Shotokan Karate Federation national competitions. On numerous occasions have won gold at kata and ranked in the top three nationally in kumite. Over the years I have won state awards (at a young age) and in 2023 I won the TSKF Australian junior spirit award at the age of 13. I graded to Shodan (black belt) at the age of 9, which was through dedication and training up to 5-6 days a week.

Travel to interstate competitions, accommodation, entry fees, team uniform and flights to international competitions unfortunately doesn't receive any government support, so I am reliant on the generous support of friends, family and the community to be able to travel for my sport. I am really grateful for all the support that I have received so far, and hope that I will be able to continue my journey.
