BCC TRAINING FACILITY UPGRADE

CURRENT FACILITY

The current training area is in poor condition. It is 2 nets each with a 2 section pitch, so concrete area for batsman and a small slab at the bowlers end. The area between each section is dirt and uneven and the bowlers run up is also dirt and uneven. As such bowlers can slip on the dirt and also be hesitant in their run ups due to the uneven surface. Worst of all is the area is the low point and thus does not drain making it unusable at times. Overall we have numerous occasions where the facility is unusable or is limited in its use or limits the players ability to train to their potential.

BENEFIT

By providing facilities that are of a higher standard that will be more user friendly we will be able to grow their skills and thus they will gain greater success leading to higher enjoyment of the game. We will be able to be an attractive cricket option as our offering will match or better our rivals as our current offer is poor and other clubs are better options. We will be able to grow the club and the sport as we will be providing good modern facilities.

COST

The overall cost of the project is $95,000. Funding and grants are being sought through Cricket Australia, State Government and Local council however there is a gap that needs to be filled by the club of $10,000.

PROJECT

Demolish existing nets and replace these with a raised single concrete slab 25m by 7.5m that will be built to Cricket Australia Standards. It will have a retractable centre net to allow for fielding practice within the area.
