2023 International Competitions

2023 International Competitions

UPDATE: Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me so far!! With less than a week to go before leaving for Portugal, I'm immensely grateful - it has definitely taken something off of the back of my mind and allowed me to prep to the best of my ability <3

After 2022 was a year of successful domestic competitions and international tours, 2023 continues to present me with opportunities that I have no choice but to chase, however, they do come with a price tag.

Trampoline is a sport I have been participating in for over 13 years now, and began with one dream: to go to the Olympics and get to compete for my country on sport's biggest stage. Throughout my career, I have been prodominantly a Double Mini Trampoline athlete - one of three disciplines within Trampoline Gymnastics that is not in the Olympics. I love my sport with all my being, and had fully accepted that the Olympics were off the cards for me as I was dominant in the wrong discipline - until this year.

The results I achieved last year, alongside my teammates, were some that I had ever only dreamed about, and all of that was only made possible due to everyone's generosity and support towards my sporting career. I became a duel national champion for Women's Senior Double Mini Trampoline, achieved podium finishes on Trampoline competing with the seniors, achieved my first senior international podium finish, and was crowned 2022 World Champion for the Women's DMT Team event alongside my teammates.

2023 will be another big year for me, with even more opportunities within reach, but I can't do it without some help. This is the beginning of the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifying cycle, and my goal is to be selected on that team and head all over the world to qualify to compete at next year's Olympics. This opportunity includes travelling to compete at:

  • Two World Cup competitions in Portugal in July, one of which is the first Olympic Games qualifier
  • An Olympic qualifier World Cup competition in Florida, USA in August
  • An Olympic qualifier World Cup compeititon in Varna, Bulgaria in October
  • World Championships in Birmingham, UK - the main Olympic qualifier!
  • Participating in a 6 week preparation camp in Europe with the Australian Trampoline Team in England prior to World Championships in November.

I don't think it's fully recognised how taxing of a process getting to and competing at the Olympic Games is, but it is an opportunity I have been presented with that I would regret not chasing for the rest of my life. I am so excited to get an opportunity to branch out from what I thought would be my specialty, and couldn't do that without the support from my family, friends, coaches, and of course, other supporters (such as you reading this!).

At this point in time (May 2023), I am ecstatic to share that I have been selected on my first Australian team for Individual Trampoline, and will be travelling to the first two World Cups in Portugal for three weeks in late June-early July. I have also been named the non-travelling reserve for the team headed to the USA.

Thank you so much for reading through my story, and I hope you will continue to follow my Olympic journey over on Instagram.

I would also like to thank Rachel and the WattleNest for their continued support of my sporting journey, and encourage you to check out their mission at The WattleNest.
