Hi I’m Chad Willett.

I am a 19 year old Rower from north Queensland. I am a country boy at heart currently living in Brisbane for Rowing and my Air Conditioning and Refrigeration apprenticeship.

My life changed when I won my first Australian Rowing Championships in Tasmania in 2021 for Under 17 in the single scull event by 27 seconds.

Because of that I moved to boarding school in Brisbane, as that was where all the opportunities were so I could get serious about my rowing career.

Dedication and determination are some of the ingredients needed to be an elite athlete. Fitting in hours of training and competing as well as full time apprenticeship takes up all of my time. Fundraising is a crucial component of what I need to achieve in order to be able to follow my rowing dreams.

I have now represented Australia 3 times for ROWING:

  • ·       2022 I was in Italy in the Under 19 Quad Scull.
  • ·        2023 I was in Paris in the Under 19 Double Scull.
  • ·        This year I am in Canberra in the Under 21 Quad Scull and Eight boat.

My ultimate Goal is to compete for Australia in Rowing at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

Competing internationally is incredibly challenging both physically and financially.

My first fundraising project this year is to raise $10 000 as part of the Aussie Athlete Fund Challenge – where I am partnered with the business EMACS to help me raise this amount by October 2024.

In the big picture, I have 8 years till the Brisbane 2032 Olympics so I have a long fundraising journey ahead of me. I’m sure there will be ups and downs but I am learning to be Patient, Persistent and Passionate.

On top of normal everyday living costs, every year I also need to have funds available for:

  • ·        Club fees
  • ·       Competition fees
  • ·        Australian Team Seat Fees
  • ·        Travel / flights
  • ·        Accommodation

With your support I can direct my focus to training and performance without the added stress of these extra financial burdens.

I am extremely appreciative to be a part of the Aussie Athlete Funds Million Dollar Challenge powered by AMPOL. This program partners 100 Aussie Athletes with businesses to each raise $10 000 and hopefully a total of $1 million dollars by October this year.

Thank you so much  Aussie Athlete Fund: Natalie Cook OAM, AMPOL, EMACS and everyone who donates to my page.

Please know that your financial support is greatly appreciated.

"I AM VERY EXCITED TO BE PART OF THE $1M CHALLENGE, POWERED BY AMPOL."
