Cindy Rella, a true powerhouse in kettlebell sport Australia, continues to break barriers and redefine excellence at 52. Cindy competes at elite and masters levels, showcasing unparalleled determination and resilience. Her achievements are vast, and her dedication to the sport is inspiring.
Cindy has been named one of the four Masters finalists in the 2024 Victorian Sport Awards, decided on May 14th. This historic moment marks the first time a kettlebell lifter has been recognised in these prestigious awards. It’s a milestone for Cindy and the entire kettlebell sport community in Australia.
Cindy’s journey into kettlebell sport may be relatively new compared to her 30+ years in athletics, but her impact has been profound. Her sportsmanship, encouragement of fellow lifters, and passion for the sport are evident every time she steps onto the platform.
Her accomplishments speak volumes:
GSAA: 52 Australian records, 33 CMS, 8 MS, 1 MSTA Ranks, and Lifter of the Year (2023 & 2024) in marathon and traditional lifting.
IKMF: 18 CMS, 2 MS, 8 MSWC Ranks, and 5 World Records.
WKSF: 29 CMS, 3 MS, 1 MSEC (the only Australian to achieve this), and 5 World Records.
International Judge: WKSF & IKMF.
Cindy has achieved 28 gold medals at world championships, including one in karate, a testament to her versatility and drive. Whether competing solo or against others, Cindy consistently breaks records, reaches the highest ranks, and endures the gruelling demands of competition to earn her accolades.
Cindy has qualified for the World Championships in the following lifts:
Masters Division:
- Long Cycle 16kg
- One Arm Long Cycle 16kg
- Military Snatch 16kg
- Biathlon 16kg
- Snatch 16kg (Traditional)
- One Arm Jerk 16kg (30 minutes)
- Snatch 16kg (30 minutes)
- One Arm Long Cycle 16kg (30 minutes)
Elite Division:
- One Arm Long Cycle 24kg (Traditional)
- One Arm Jerk 20kg (30 minutes)
- One Arm Long Cycle 20kg (30 minutes)
While Cindy initially planned to contest her Elite division OALC title from last year, she has chosen to focus on personal goals this year. She will compete in the following:
Masters Division:
- Long Cycle 16kg
- One Arm Long Cycle 16kg
- Military Snatch 16kg
- One Arm Long Cycle 16kg (30 minutes)
Elite Division:
- One Arm Jerk 20kg (30 minutes)
Additionally, Cindy will represent Australia in the Masters Team Relay for both Women’s and Mixed divisions.
Cindy faced significant challenges last year despite her incredible achievements, nearly losing her business to a greedy real estate agent. She used her competition savings to rebuild and secure her business, leaving her without the funds to self-fund her trip this year.
