Concord and Ryde Sailing Club Sailboat Building Project

Concord and Ryde Sailing Club Sailboat Building Project

The club uses the non-sailing winter seasons to boost its training fleet by engaging with interested young people. Working with them, we have built examples of our popular Firebug and Moth class dinghies. In 2023, our team won the prestigious Hal Harpur Award of the Wooden Boat Association of New South Wales, for our construction of two Moths. Through the programme, the club gains new boats and the young people develop skills which contribute to both their education and employability.

Our next project, which will allow the club to offer more advanced sailing courses, will be the construction of Rainbow Scows. Using these two-person boats, we will pass on the skills required to sail high performance dinghies equipped with spinnaker and trapeze.
