Who we are

The Darebin Falcons have had a long history in the top tier Victorian women’s Football leagues for 35 years. As part of the Darebin Women’s Sports Club, the Darebin Falcons VFLW team is part of a club that supports over 750 girls, women, and gender-diverse members to play Aussie rules, soccer and cricket.

Our Club is dedicated to developing elite players while maintaining our foundation in community, inclusion and diversity. All players within our club strive for excellence and the club is committed to the standards of respect, fairness, and development for all members.

Our legacy of Champions

The team has been a pioneering influence on women’s football, the AFLW and the development of female players and coaches. Sixteen of our players were drafted in the inaugural AFLW draft. Head coaches at Essendon, Port Adelaide and West Coast AFLW are Darebin champions, as are assistant coaches at more than five current AFLW clubs.

The Falcons won 8 of the last 10 Victorian Women’s Football League premierships prior to the establishment of the ALFW and the first 2 VFLW flags, with players like Daisy Pearce, Darcy Vescio, and Katie Brennan among our ranks.

We need your help!

As the only standalone women’s program within the VFLW, we are self-financed through grants, sponsors, donors and through club membership. We do not accept gambling revenue. We are proud that we are an independent club but with the expansion of our club wide sporting teams and the cost of running an elite VFLW program, we must now look wider for support.

Your support of the VFLW program will help us to jump over some serious barriers we face to successfully run next year's program, including facilities, equipment, medical and coaching staff to achieve a quality VFLW program

Join the Flight 2025

After some tough years on the field as the underdog in a changing landscape, the 2024 team found a renewed success, winning 5 of our last 7 games as well as proudly achieving individual accolades with the league’s leading goal scorer, hit-out ruck and most valuable player.

We hope to build on this momentum in 2025 as we continue to develop our players and coaches and find our way back into finals contention.
