G'day everyone,

I’m Denise Chan, a 15 year old girl with a burning passion for volleyball. My dream has always to make it to the top in a sport, and now I have been offered to represent Australia in the Volleyball Australia’s Thailand Development Tour.

In 2022, I joined Western Regional Volleyball (WRV) and training with them. I joined the Victorian state U14 girls team as a last minute thing due to pull outs. I started to play higher levels of volleyball at the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships. The year 2022 ended with me receiving the MVP award in the state team, and the rising star award at Western Region Volleyball (WRV). 

In 2023, I started at a new school for the Maribyrnong Sports Academy (MSA) for volleyball. I also started playing State League Women’s Reserves 3 for WRV. After all the training I got, I made the state team for U15 girls in 2023. Unfortunately, I could only make the second team, which motivated me even more to prove my capabilities. I was appointed as the captain of the team. After everything ended, I received the MVP award for both my state team and my club team in 2023. 

To end off the year 2023, I got an invite to attend the National Development Program in QLD by AusVolley. This camp significantly helped me improve, as it consisted of many talented players across Australia. 

In 2024, during the off season for indoor, I made the u16G Beach State team. My partner and I recently represented Victoria and participated in the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships, that was a wonderful experience for me at the national level. 

This year, I am going to be playing Prems 2 for VFUM in State League. I also got selected to represent Victoria in the School Sport Victorian team, competing in NSW in the School Sport Australia Volleyball Championships.

Now, I have recently been invited to play for Australia at the Thailand Junior Volleyball Championships, which I have accepted. Throughout my journey, I had many ups and downs, but hard work and determination really does pay off. Being invited to play for Australia feels unreal as it is in April 2024, which is very soon. It is my honor to represent my country. I hope I can get some support from you and your kind and generous support will be truly appreciated!
