My name is Dion Kalogiros and I was born with an eyesight disability, a rare condition called Aniridia. This means there is no iris in the eye and in my case, the iris is absent in both of my eyes. This genetic disorder affects 1 in 60,000 individuals.
Soccer has always been my passion. I have played outdoor competitions since I was 4 years old and for many years now I have been playing futsal. This sport is an integral part of my life and I am fortunate to have recently been selected in the National Partially Sighted Team representing Australia. As we do not receive national funding, I am hoping to get your support to help my venture competing internationally. These funds would go towards flights, accommodation, training camps, competitions, sporting apparel etc. We will be starting 2024 off with our first competition in Sydney from the 17th January to the 22nd January at the AFA Nationals in the AWD tournament and the possibility of further international tours in the near future. I would really appreciate and be forever grateful for any of support given.
Thank you,
Dion Kalogiros
