Stretching from Gatton in the east to St George in the west, Downs Rugby is one of the largest rugby bodies by land size in the world – covering an area more than twice the size of Tasmania.

Founded in 1964 when 5 local clubs came together to compete for the coveted Risdon Cup.

Since then, Downs Rugby has grown exponentially to encompass 18 clubs competing in junior, teenage boys and girls, senior men’s and women’s and representative competitions with over 4,500 participants each year and counting.

Your support will help us continue to strive for excellence and deliver great grassroot rugby competitions!

Our key objectives for 2024 include:

• engage with our community through our 60 Years of the Risdon Cup Celebrations
• re-introduce Colts competition
• further develop girls & women's XVs competition
• support the development of our junior clubs and assist with their individual priorities
• build on our representative program
• increase visibilities and opportunities for girls & women in Rugby
• secure new opportunities to link with other sub-unions, QRU & RA to continue our growth
