Emma Perrier - WSL Longboard Tour Fundraiser

Emma Perrier - WSL Longboard Tour Fundraiser

Raised

$4,119.77

Goal

$15,000.00

My name is Emma Perrier, and I am about to begin my first year on the WSL (World Surf League) Longboard Tour in July. This is my first year competing competitively and was stoked to go to the WSL APAC qualifier as the last seed and finish in second place. The woman who came first already qualified meaning I received the Regional Qualifying spot for the Asian-Pacific region.

There are four events on the World Longboard Tour, Bells Beach (Victoria, Aus), Huntington Beach (California, USA), the third stop hasn't been announced yet and then the finals will be in El Salvador. Super excited to surf these epic surf spots and show what I can do!

As exciting as it has been to make the tour, it is also equally as daunting when looking at the costs of travelling. You have to pay your way to every stop on the tour, there is no funding provided. Despite having a super supportive full-time job, it has still been impossible to save up for the tour in the short amount of time that I have had. Looking at the first two events, it will cost an upward of $15k so approximately $30k across the whole year. I would really appreciate any type of support to help me get on the tour and exceed, I will try my best to do everyone proud!

A bit about me

I grew up in Brisbane, mainly surfing on the weekends and holidays down at Evans Head. When I was 8yrs old, I convinced my dad to enter me in the Annual Malibu Classic and push me onto waves. 16 years later, I am now the Vice-President of the club and reigning Womens Champion for the past 3 years. After I finished Uni in 2021, I decided to move down the coast from Brisbane to Tweed Heads and my surfing has improved significantly since then as I am able to surf daily. I am a Rainbow Bay surf local, surfing there most mornings, dodging and weaving between the crowds.

I haven’t surfed very competitively in the past, however, I have been very active in the local longboarding community. Each year I enter local competitions including Noosa, Burleigh, Lennox, Byron Bay, Woolgoolga, Scotts Head as well as our monthly club competitions in Evans Head.

Recently in June, I became the NSW State Open Womens Champion. Excited to also represent NSW at the Australian Longboard Titles in Tweed Heads (my home) in September.

Within the longboard community, I am also known because of the event I organise, “The Breast Comp Ever” which is a womens-only longboarding comp in Evans Head where we fundraise for much needed Breast Cancer awareness, research and care. Across the two events in 2021 and 2023, we raised over $155k.

Would appreciate all and any type of support.

Lots of love,

Emma x
