Felicity's first Paralympic Qualifying Event

Hi everyone,

My name is Felicity Weal from Cowra NSW, and I am fundraising to be able to compete at my first 2024 Paris Paralympics qualifying event in Para-Dressage.

I'm shooting for the stars! My ambition is to represent my beloved country on the world stage in Equestrian. I have been riding for as long as I can remember and the more I go down this path, the more it becomes clear that I am skilled and determined enough to make this goal a reality.

After my spinal injury in 2017, which has left me wheelchair bound, I never gave up on my goal. I now want to reach the top of the Para Dressage discipline, and I am asking my community for support.

The event is held at Boneo Park on the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia. Being that it is a CPEDI (Internationally sanctioned event), there are protocols that mean we need to stay on venue for the require 4 days (horse health inspection day + 3 days of competition).

Allowing a day each side of competition for travel, we need to stay for 6 days (5nights). The dates are 9th October to the 14th October 2023.

My target is $2918.00 based off the following budget to get there:

$280 competition entries

$200 committee/ground fees

$610 stable/tack room

$1000 hotel

$828 Fuel (based off 1570kms round trip)

= $2918 total

I would love to attend this event with my horse Max, as this also doubles up as the Australian Para-Dressage Nationals, and that means I am able to meet and see a lot of other para riders who I don't get the chance to meet because of my location. The para community is incredibly supportive so I would love the opportunity also to cheer on my fellow riders!
